Golf Biomechanics: X-Factor 1-2-3 (Free-Release)

let´s talk about the Free-Release (Frank Drollinger) 3! X-Factors:

X-Factor is the angle-relation between hip axis and shoulder axis.

X-Factor 1 shows us the possibility of swing power. Hip position at the backswing ca. 35 to 45 degrees and shoulder 90 degrees

X-Factor 2 shows us at the moment of ball impact if the hip was moved under Free-Release active legwork. We check this quality by high speed cameras.  So it is logical that you need measureable balance during B1 (setup backswing impact). If the right heel is at the impact moment still on the ground but the hip turned we call this situation anticipation of hip motion without the effect of additional energy.

X-Factor 3 (finish position) shows the physiology of the swing. If the hip is behind the shoulder we have huge stress to the back, spine, discs and vertebras. This works with active legwork. If the legwork is passive – this means the hip moves not because of active legwork but because of the power of the swing rotation. We have also huge stress at the back, spine, discs and vertebras.

Conclusion: Balance (B1) is needed to ensure active legwork. Balance (B1) and active legwork are main functions in the Free-Release-Method. This is the basic for a healthy golf swing
